The Monthly Parish Lunch
Usually held on the Third Sunday of the Month
(unless otherwise advertised)
(unless otherwise advertised)
Faith Formation is a very high priority for our community.
It is important that we continue to develop in our faith, so that we can, as St Peter demands of us, always give an account of reasons for the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15). We hold teaching days, Study Sessions, Zoom Sessions, Lenten Groups, retreats, and other types of faith education events. One of our ways of helping this faith formation, and also of building up the Body of Christ is our Monthly Parish Lunch. This is a regular time for parishioners to get together for some fellowship with each other, out of our busy lives, and to listen to a talk, to ask questions, and to find some help with our ongoing faith journey and formation.
The 2021 programme has so far included:
May - "The Road to Emmaus and the Eucharist"
- Nigel McBain
April - "St Joseph - in the Shadow of the Father"
- Natalie Thomas (Tutor in Theology at Notre Dame University)
March - "The Passion in the Gospel of St Mark"
- Monsignor Harry Entwistle
February - "Temptation"
- Nigel McBain
January - "The Genealogy of Christ in the Gospel of St Matthew"
- Monsignor Harry Entwistle
In June and July, 2021, the Parish Lunch will be held on the Fourth Sundays due to the visits of the Vicar-General, Fr Stephen Hill, in June, who will speak about his ministry as a Catholic Chaplain aboard cruise ships, and of our Ordinary, Monsignor Carl Reid PA, in July, who will address us about the future directions of the Ordinariate on the occasion of his first visit to Perth and our community since becoming the Ordinary.
In the latter part of 2020, the topics included:
September - "The Holy Angels"
- Nigel McBain
October - "God's work of Healing"
- Monsignor Harry Entwistle
November - "The Four Last Things"
- Nigel McBain
December - "Parish Pre-Christmas Get-Together" Our Parish lunch in December was a time for some music and carols with a sing-along around the piano and informal fellowship over lunch.
Due to the Covid pandemic, the Parish Lunch programme was suspended for several months in 2020, but we were able to get going again in September with a change of venue. After such a time of isolation and distancing, we feel that this ministry is a high priority for all of us, to make sure that we have this time being together for faith and fellowship. You are most welcome, so please come and join us, and, if you feel so moved, bring a plate to share.
