Our Mass: Divine Worship

Holy Mass is celebrated in the Divine Worship Form of the Roman Rite at the following times at St Paul's Mt Lawley:

Sundays — 11:00 a.m.
Mondays — 8:00 a.m.
Wednesdays — 8:00 a.m.
Fridays — 8:00 a.m.

Confession is available by seeing one of our priests in good time before or after Mass, or at other times by arrangement with one of our priests.

What can you expect at an Ordinariate Form Mass?

The Divine Worship Form of the Mass was promulgated by Pope Francis in Advent 2015. It is a way of celebrating Holy Mass that, while fully Catholic, uses some elements that have arisen during the time of the Protestant separation from Rome. Generally, the Mass follows the same elements and in the same order as the other Forms of the Roman Rite, only, in an Ordinariate Mass, there are some additional prayers, the Eastward or "ad orientem" position for the priest and ministers is used (so we all face the same way together), and the language of the Mass uses what we call "Sacral English." This Sacral English is a more classical or poetic form of English, which retains things like the singular second person pronoun, "Thou" and uses other grammatical constructions, which are nowadays usually reserved to poetry. This form of English is the linguistic register of Milton and Shakespeare and the King James Bible.

Order of Mass

The Saint Gregory the Great Community of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter has published online a thorough Order of Mass. It can be viewed here.

Divine Worship: The Missal

Divine Worship the Missal (the Study Edition of which is available from CTS Books), was promulgated for use in the Personal Ordinariates, by Pope Francis on Advent Sunday, 2015. It is the liturgical expression of the Mass suited to the traditions of those who have achieved integration without absorption into the fulness of the Communion of the Catholic Church in union with the Pope. A discussion on its contents and creation has been posted on the US-Canadian Ordinariate's website.
